Gypsy Costume

Are you thinking about wearing a Gypsy Costume this season?

Gypsy Costumes are made to look a little more raggedy than normal costumes. The women versions are worn out dresses with simulated tears and holes with patches in them. The shirts are much the same. Most come with very puffy blouses. What makes these costumes so unique is the colors and styles available. The Gypsy style stands out of the crowd. They make the wearer very noticeable.

Through the years Gypsies or Romani people have been very mysterious people.  They spend their time roaming around the country side.  They are a wondering race of people that first originated from England during the 16th century.  Although, their exact origins have not been found, it is believed by modern scientist and historians that they were originally from Egyptian ancestry.

The word Gypsy dates back to the 1500's. It is derived from the Latin "Egyptian". The people of the English gave this people this name because they spread into England from their Roman continent and an area named Little Egypt, in Southern Balkans. While in England they were heavenly persecuted because of their ancestry and the religion that they practiced.

The Gypsy population is known to be the poorest and the fastest growing society in England. They usually live on the margins of society staying out of site and out of mind of locals.
